Vian Wrestling Club boys win team titles at Brushy, place members in two Christmas Break tournaments

The Vian Wrestling Club boys team claimed team championships both at the Brushy Christmas Brawl on Dec. 27 and the Rumble on the River, which took place last Saturday at Gore Event Center.

At the Brushy Christmas Brawl, the Vian Wrestling Club won the boys team championship with 267 points, while the girls squad was third with 99 points, and it had four wrestlers who were multiple placers.

Daxton Stewart took gold at both 92-96 pounds in the open age 12-and-younger division and at 92 pounds in the open age 15-and-younger division.

Kainen Hunter was the champion at 49 pounds in the open age 8-andyounger division, while coming in runner-up at 49 pounds in the age 6-and-younger division.

Jestin Rosson was second at 76-80 pounds in the open age 12-andyounger division and finished third at 80-86 pounds in the open age 15-and-younger division.

Solomon Barnes was third at 67 pounds in the open age 8-and-younger division, while placing fourth at 64 pounds in the open age 10-andyounger division.

Four other Vian Wrestling Club members won championships — Addison Sanders (girls age 6-and-younger, 40-46 pounds), Bronc Sumpter (open age 12-and-younger, 100-105), Parker Mabe (open age 12-and-younger, 64-73) and Gunner Hofstetter (age 6-andyounger, 40).

Kali Daniels (girls age 15-and-younger, 138 pounds), Kennedye Hofstetter (girls age 12-andyounger, 98), Madalynn Turman (girls age 10-and-younger, 88-95), Daxleigh Cole (girls age 6-and-younger, 40-46), Rocky Ford (open age 12-and-younger, 120), Case Hollaway (open age 8-and-younger, 90-105), Klasen Couch (open age 8-and-younger, 67) and Kade Gregory (age 6-and-younger, 64) all came in second in their respective weight class and division at the Brushy Christmas Brawl, while Payton Brown (girls age 12-and-younger, 98), Blair Barnes (girls age 12-and-younger, 91), Zach Smith (open age 12-and younger, 84-88), Kam Craighead (open age 10-and-younger, 90) and Keaton Gregory (open age 8-and-younger, 52) all finished third.

Creede Prier (open age 12-and-younger division, 92-96 pounds), Bentley Sanders (open age 10-and-younger, 110), Carter Rosson (open age 8-and-younger, 83) and Gatlin Gates (age 6-andyounger, 43) all came in fourth at Brushy.

In last Saturday’s tournament at Gore, the Vian Wrestling Club was ninth in team standings with 78.5 points.

Joely Hunt won two titles at the Rumble on the River as she claimed the championship at 105 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division and at 97-102 pounds in the girls age 15-andyounger division.

Hunter also won two championships at Gore, claiming gold at 49 pounds in the age 6-andyounger division and at 42-49 pounds in the open age 8-and-younger division.

James Constant won the 105-pound title in the novice age 8-and-younger division, while coming in runner-up at 105 pounds in the open age 8-and-younger division.

Cole (girls age 6-andyounger division, 4246 pounds) and Oaklen Choate (novice age 10-and-younger, 52) each won a championship Saturday at Gore.

Nacoma Drum was a multiple placer for the Vian Wrestling Club as she was third at 70 pounds in the girls age 10-and-younger division and was fourth at 70 pounds in the novice age 10-and-younger division.

Smith (novice age 12-and-younger division, 80-84 pounds), Hollaway (novice age 8-and-younger, 105), Samuel Gilbreath (age 4-and-younger division, 45 pounds), Anders Gilbreath (open age 10-and-younger, 73), Zayn Vinson (open age 12-and-younger, 73-77), Addison Sanders (girls age 6-and-younger, 4246), Blair Barnes (girls age 12-and-younger, 91), Solomon Barnes (open age 8-and-younger, 67), Kennedye Hofstetter (girls age 12-and-younger, 105) and Leila Cheater (girls age 15-and-younger, 110) were runners-up at Gore.

Placing third at the Rumble on the River were Prier (open age 12-and-younger division, 92 pounds), Turman (girls age 10-andyounger, 95-105), Brown (girls age 12-and-younger, 98), Gunner Hofstetter (age 6-and-younger, 40), Tae Constant (age 6-and-younger, 60), Gage Hines (open age 12-and-younger, 99105) and Cru Rutherford (novice age 8-andyounger, 67).

Daniels (girls age 15-and-younger division, 138 pounds), Kade Gregory (age 6-andyounger, 52), Ty Rutherford (novice age 8-andyounger, 67) and Josh Constant (novice age 12-and-younger, 88-92) all placed fourth.
