Webbers Falls Warriors open season at 1-2
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

The Webbers Falls Warriors went 1-2 to begin their 2026 baseball season last week.

The Warriors’ lone win was an 8-4 home Riverside Conference game victory over the Arkoma Mustangs on March 3 at Eual Carter Sports Complex.

The Warriors lost their season opener 16-5 against the Keota Lions at home on March 2, and ended last week with an 11-1 fourinning loss to the host Porter Consolidated Pirates.

In the win over Arkoma, the Warriors rallied from a 4-3 third-inning deficit by scoring twice in the third inning and three runs in the fourth inning for an 8-4 lead.

For the game, Trysten Wilbourn doubled with three runs batted in and a run scored, while Thadan Yandell singled with two RBIs for Webbers Falls.

Gunner Shelby (1-0) got the win in relief as he went the final four innings with five strikeouts. Brutus Robinson got the start went the first two innings with five Ks.

In the season-opening loss to Keota, the Warriors took a 2-0 lead after four innings, only to see the Lions erupt for 16 runs over the final three innings — including a nine-run seventh inning.

In defeat, Robinson was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored, Wilbourn doubled with an RBI and Shelby tripled and scored once for the Warriors, who had their original season opener on Feb. 27 canceled with McCurtain due to high school basketball playoffs for the Lady Bulldogs, who made state.

T.J. Morgan (0-1) took the loss in relief, giving up the gamewinning run in the fifth inning.

In the loss to Porter Consolidated, the Pirates broke a scoreless tie with a four-run second inning and a sixrun third inning to give them a 10-0 lead after three innings.

In defeat, Hayden Stephens was 2-for-2 for the Warriors.

Wilbourn (0-1) took the loss, going two innings with a strikeout. Stephens went the rest of the way.
