Webbers Falls Warriors fall at home to Keota
By David Seeley Sports Editor

It was a rough night of football for the Webbers Falls Warriors as they suffered their first loss of the season with a 44-12 home loss to the Keota Lions last Friday night at Smokey Cox Stadium.

The Warriors (2-1) trailed 14-6 after a period and 20-12 at the half, but they were outscored by the Lions (3-0) in the second half 24-0.

The touchdowns for Webbers Falls came on a TD run by Aiden Turley and a TD pass from Brutus Robinson to Trysten Wilbourn.

“Our center and two guards didn’t play very well,” Webbers Falls coach Trent Holt said. “Our offensive line didn’t perform very well, and that hurt us big time. We ran the ball OK, and we threw it OK. We just had a couple of busts. Defensively, we knew when they were going to pass it, and we still couldn’t cover like we were supposed to. We’re disappointed. We know what it feels like to lose and see what it takes to get better.”

It will be a short week for the Warriors as they will hit the road to play at 7 p.m. Thursday against the host Cave Springs Hornets, who will provide a lot of concerns for Holt. “For one, we’re having to go up there. It’s a tough environment. They have two kids — one can really throw it, and the other is really fast. They’re big. If they run what they have been in the past, they like to get you spread out.”

••• To Get There — Take U.S. 64 east to Sallisaw. Take Maple Street north to where it becomes 4620 Road. Continue on 4620 Road to where it becomes 4610 Road. Continue on 4610 Road to 991 Road. Turn left on 991 Road through Marble City to 4590 Road. Turn right on 4590 Road to where it becomes 4610 Road. Continue 4610 Road to where it becomes Bunch Road. Continue on Bunch Road to Cave Springs High School.
