Sen. Shane Jett, RShawnee, has introduced a concurrent resolution proclaiming “Christ is King” in Oklahoma, a resounding acknowledgment of the state’s deep spiritual heritage and the faith that sustains its people. The resolution reaffirms Oklahoma’s legacy of resilience, moral clarity, and unapologetic commitment to the values that uplift its citizens.

Drawing from the state’s rich history, the resolution recognizes the phrase “Christ is King” as a powerful declaration of faith embraced by millions of Oklahomans and Christians globally, symbolizing the sovereignty of Jesus Christ as a beacon of hope, unity, and moral guidance. It stands as a testament to the enduring influence of Christian belief in shaping Oklahoma’s culture and communities.

“This is a strong stance for freedom and faith,” Jett said. “Our focus should be on defending the rights of every Oklahoman to express their convictions without fear of punishment or retribution—a right guaranteed by the U.S. and Oklahoma Constitutions, including the ability to boldly say that Christ is indeed King.”

The resolution makes clear that it neither establishes religion nor infringes on individual rights, but rather celebrates the voluntary expression of belief that has long defined Oklahoma. It also expresses gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon the state, honoring the spiritual foundation that continues to guide its people.

As a concurrent resolution it now must pass through the Oklahoma Senate under the authorship of Senator Jett, followed by the State House where Representative Jim Olsen is the primary author.
