Our Blood Institute (OBI) is kicking off its April and May donor campaign, inviting the community to make a stop along the iconic Route 66 and help fuel the journey for patients in local hospitals.
OBI will hold a blood drive with the Gore community on Monday, April 6, from 2 to 6 p.m. on the bloodmobile at Harp’s Foods.
A blood drive will also be held at Sallisaw Walmart on Friday, April 10, from 2 to 6 p.m. on the bloodmobile.
All successful blood donors will receive a limited-edition Route 66 themed T-shirt featuring the slogan “Get Your Sticks on Route 66.”
Anyone who is healthy and 16 years old* or older can give blood.Donation typically takes only about an hour, and one donation saves up to three lives. Appointments to donate can be made online at obi.org or by calling 877-340-8777. Walk-ins are also welcome.
*16-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission; 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds; 18+ year olds must weigh at least 110 pounds. Photo ID required.
