Central Lady Tigers go 2-2 last week on softball diamonds

The Central Lady Tigers went 2-2 last week in their four softball games.

On April 7, they avenged an earlier loss to Vian by beating the Lady Wolverines 8-4 at home, then routed Leflore 19-4 in three innings in the first game of their road three-way last Thursday in Heavener.

The week started with a 7-5 home loss to Keota on April 6 and ended with a 10-2 five-inning loss to the host Heavener Lady Wolves last Thursday.

In the win over Vian, the Lady Tigers (6-13) snapped a five-game losing streak.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning and enjoyed a 7-2 advantage after two innings.

For the game, Charlie Petree was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, Keeley Poindexter was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Alyvia Warner was 2-for-4 with two run scored and Gretchen Reed was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Central. Reed (6-13) got the win.

In the victory over Leflore, a 14-run first inning put the game into run-rule status for the Lady Tigers.

For the contest, Petree was 3-for-3 with a double, her third home run of the season, five RBIs and three runs scored, Lilly Kutil was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored, Jhaselyn Gonzalez was 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, Sadie Huff was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Brenleigh Allen was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, Poindexter was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, Avery Sainer was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored and Rylie Wilson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Central. Reed got the victory.

In the loss to Keota, the Lady Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never relinquished their advantage.

The Lady Tigers cut their deficit to two runs twice, with the last time at 7-5 in the seventh inning but got no closer.

In defeat, Petree was 3-for-3 with a run scored, Allen was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs batted in and a run scored, Poindexter was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Huff was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Gonzalez was 2-for-3, Kutil was 2-for-3, Alexxus Bolin doubled and Sainer doubled with an RBI for Central. Gretchen Reed took the loss.

In the loss to Heavener, the Lady Wolves broke a 2-all tie with a three-run second inning and a five-run fourth inning.

In defeat, Poindexter was 3-for-3, Huff was 2-for-3, Allen was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Sainer was 2-for-3, Bolin was 2-for-2 and Petree hit her fourth homer of the season with two RBIs for Central. Reed took the loss.

The Lady Tigers were sent to Dewar for next week’s Class 3A District Tournament with Okarche to begin postseason play.
