Come Up to Me on the Mountain
commentary, Devotional
April 15, 2026
Come Up to Me on the Mountain
By Shirley R. Watts,

“Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.” “Then Moses went up into the mountain,” (Exodus 24:12, 15-18). All true believers are summoned to worship God on the mountain. It prepares us for the work ahead. Fellowship waits all who commit, surrender and climb. God is seeking people who will “worship Him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).

Adam and Eve lived in a perfect fellowship. But Satan came and brought darkness over the Garden. Their souls were filled with sadness. There was disorder, fear and discord. Sin changed everything. Just as it is today, sin in the life changes spiritual discernment. Adam and Eve tried to hide their sin from God. God judged them! He also judged Satan and banished all from His perfect Garden.

There is a time in your life when God speaks to your heart and calls you by name and ask you to accept His Son’s death on the cross. Some will accept His birth, life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension and make the decision to live for Him. They have eternal life!

Some will reject God’s invitation and at the Great White Throne Judgment they will also be banished from God’s presence for all eternity.

God calls all believers to the top of the mountain. Climbing up that mountain will not be easy, but until we climb. we will not be blessed by God. He says He will help us, but we must desire to please and honor Him. We must humble ourselves in full surrender and climb like the deer (Ps 18:33).

Many believers stand at the foot of the mountain, watching others commit and climb…Spectators! Some believers who start the climb, but allow Satan to deceive them and they give up. They sit down and refuse to go to the top…Disobedience! They do not experience God’s fellowship and His power in their lives. They just get a taste. They lack desire and faith. The world side-tracks them.

Then you have some who commit to God and put God first. They surrender daily! They climb through all circumstances. They have such a desire to honor to Him. God removes Satan’s obstacles as they pray and climb by faith to the top of the mountain.

They pray and study their Bible daily. They seek God and the path He wants them to take. When they come down from the mountain they reflect Jesus Christ in their lives, home, church and community. They praise the Lord. It is truly worth it!” Amen!

Climbing to the top is a beautiful climb. You decide to obey God! You separate yourself from the ways of the world. He gives you the strength. “Obedience” declares your love for Him!

God saved you, and if you are not living up to His calling, you are playing round with the world.

God summons you to the top of the mountain. He knows you. He sees your pain. He hears your cry and sees your tears. He knows everything about you, where you go, what you say, how often you pray and study His Word. If you are not committed, ask God to forgive you. He will help you climb. He will “direct your path” as you climb higher and higher and you will find peace and great joy.

If you are not a believer, consider Him today. Don’t delay! Tomorrow may be too late. Tomorrow there may not be a mountain to climb, but the pit to be cast into. Trust Jesus! He is real and He loves you, and died for you! Don’t let Satan talk you out of it. Salvation is just a Cross and prayer away.

Christian, If God is calling you to a fuller commitment, He will help you climb. Present your heart to Him, re-dedicate your life and move up the mountain.

Moses was obedient! He climbed all the way to the top. He is mighty way. The Church must be obedient and we must all climb to the top.

Pray! Surrender! Climb! Serve! Rejoice!
