The Gore Lady Pirates find themselves three wins away from being crowned 2026 Riverside Conference Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament champions.
The Lady Pirates opened the one-day conference tournament last Friday in Stigler with a 12-3 fiveinning win over the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors before falling 7-5 to Porum in the conference tournament semifinals.
The Lady Pirates blanked Arkoma 16-0 in two innings in the loser’s-bracket quarterfinals before nipping McCurtain 3-2 in the loser’s-bracket semifinals.
The Lady Pirates were ready to meet Keota in the loser’s-bracket finals, but it and the championship game as well, were rained out. They were slated to be made up Tuesday afternoon in Stigler.
The week starter with a 14-3, five-inning, runrule road victory over the host Vian Lady Wolverines on April 6 at Armstrong Park, which was the first game for the team since playing in the Hall of Fame Festival on March 27 in Oklahoma City.
On April 7, the Lady Pirates got a 7-1 road win over McCurtain.
In the tournament win over Webbers Falls, a six-run first inning and a three-run second inning put the Lady Pirates (8-8) ahead 9-0. A run in the fourth inning put the game into runrule status.
For the contest, Maddison Douglass was 2-for-3 with her second home run of the season, five runs batted in and three runs scored, while Alevia Reasnor tripled with two runs scored and an RBI for Gore. Camdyn Dotson (7-3) got the win.
In tournament loss to Porum, the Lady Panthers broke a 1-all tie with a three-run second inning and a two-run fifth inning for a 6-1 lead. The Lady Pirates tried to rally late, scoring twice in the seventh inning to cut their deficit to 7-5 but got no closer.
In defeat, Kennedy Williams was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Douglass was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Keira Rowe was 3-for-3, Reasnor tripled and scored three runs and Sophie O’Connor doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Gore. Dotson took the loss.
In the tournament rout of Arkoma, the Lady Pirates put away the game early with a 12-run first inning.
For the contest, Emily Daily was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored, Williams was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored and Rowe doubled and scored twice for Gore. Dodson got the win.
In the tournament victory over McCurtain, the Lady Pirates scored three runs in the third inning for a 3-0 lead, then had to hold a late rally by the Lady Bulldogs.
For the game, Daily was 2-for-4 with a run scored, O’Connor was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Jemma Peevy was 2-for-4 and Williams tripled with two RBIs and a run scored for Gore. Dotson got the win.
In the win over Vian, the Lady Pirates scored five runs in the first inning and three runs in the third inning for an 8-0 lead. A four-run fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.
For the contest, Daily was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, Kylie “K.J.” McEver was 3-for-3 with her first two home runs of the season, four runs scored and three RBIs, Peevy was 3-for-3 was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, Rowe was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored and O’Connor doubled and scored once for Gore. Dotson got the win.
In the non-tournament victory over Mc-Curtain, the Lady Pirates scored once in the first inning and twice in the third inning for a 3-1 lead. After the Lady Bulldogs cut their deficit to 3-1 after three innings, the Lady Pirates put away the game with a three-run fifth inning and a single run in the seventh inning.
For the contest, Williams was 3-for-3 with three runs batted in and two runs scored, Mikayla Randolph was 2-for-3 and Reasnor tripled and scored three runs for Gore. Dotson got the win.
The Lady Pirates found out their Class 3A District Tournament assignment as they have been sent to Tushka with the Clayton/Moyers co-op team. The district tournament will be next week.
