The Gore Pirates are a game away from being the conference champions for baseball, but when that game will happen was up in the air as of press time.
The Pirates, who got a first-round bye in the 2026 Riverside Conference Tournament last Thursday, routed the Okay Mustangs 10-0 in four innings in the championship semifinals later that day.
However, the Pirates had their tournament title game against Porum postponed by last Friday’s ominous weather conditions. It was uncertain at press time when the game would be played.
The Pirates started the week with a 13-3, four-inning home loss to Oktaha.
In the win over Okay, Gore pitcher Tate Brooksher (5-1) threw a four-inning, two-hitter with four strikeouts.
All the run support Brooksher needed was a three-run first inning by the Pirates (11-7). A five-run third inning and a two-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.
For the contest, Kason Short was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in, while Gage Dame doubled with an RBI for Gore.
In the loss to Oktaha, the Tigers rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit with a sevenrun third inning and a six-run fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Dame hit a three-run home run, his second one of the season, in the first inning to give the Pirates a 3-0 lead.
James Brasuell (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going the first 3.1 innings with a strikeout. Brooksher got the final two outs. Of Oktaha’s 13 runs, six were unearned due to Gore miscues.
The Pirates got the good news from the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) that they will receive bye in the Class A, Division I District Tournament and will not play their first postseason game until the final week of April.
