It was a stellar week for the Gore Pirates track team last week as they were runners-up in the boys division at the Warner Invitational on April 7 and fourth at last Friday’s Hilldale Invitational in Muskogee.
At the Warner Invitational, the Pirates were runners-up with 109 points, finishing seven points behind team champion Tulsa Webster (116 points).
In the 300-meter hurdles, Gore had a 1-2-3 finish as Devon Mannon took gold (41.14 seconds), Weston Cunningham was runnerup (43.42) and Trenton Cunningham was third (45.72). In the 110-meter hurdles, they had a 2-3-4 finish as Weston Cunningham was second (16.21), followed by Mannon in third place (16.5) and Trenton Cunningham (16.654) in fourth place.
It was a local 1-2-5 finish in the discus as Comer won the event (136-8), Marcus Scott was runner-up (113-01) and Gore’s Maden Smith was fifth (89-5).
Central’s Braxton Prewett edged out Comer to win the shot put as Prewett had a winning distance of 40-9, while Comer’s throw went 399.5.
As for other Pirates’ individuals, Benson Hunt was fourth in the 3,200-meter run (13:47.74) and ninth in the 1,600-meter run (6:00.06), Keeton Rowe was sixth (11.99 seconds), Cole Brooksher was seventh (12 seconds flat) and Nick Eklund was 10th (12.15) in the 100-meter dash, Treydan Daugherty was seventh (35-4.5) and Jaydan Gates was 15th (30-6) in the shot put, Tate Brooksher was eighth in the long jump (1710), Gabe Hefley was eighth (25.56), Grant Davis was 20th (27.24), Brayden Ellis was 27th (28.32) in the 200-meter dash, Luke Wisdom was 12th (2:31.13) and Jaxton McGowin was 14th (2:34.39) in the 800-meter run and Davis was 20th (1:02.28), Hefley was 21st (1:02.9) and Clayton White was 22nd (1:03.49) in the 400-meter dash As for the Pirates’ relay teams, White, Wisdom, Hefley and Cain Cooper were runnersup in the 3,200-meter relay (9:39.97), both Brookshers, Mannon and Rowe were fourth in the 800-meter relay (1:37.67), Cain Cooper, Trenton Cunningham, Hefley and Mc-Gowin came in fourth in the 1,600-meter relay (4:08.71) and Cole Brooksher, Mannon, Rowe and Tate Brooksher placed fifth in the 400-meter relay (47.89 seconds).
For the Lady Pirates, they finished tied for 12th place with the Pittsburg Lady Panthers.
As for Lady Pirates’ individuals, Alevia Reasnor was third in the discus (92-7), Reasnor was fourth (30-5) and Maddison Douglass was sixth (29-10) in the shot put, Mylee Bruce was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (1:00.73), Amelia White was seventh (2:51.24), Rayleigh Moore was 19th (3:05.49) and Jemma Peevy was 24th (3:37.69) in the 800-meter run, White was 19th (1:13.79), Gracie Bruce was 25th (1:16.29) and Peevy was 28th (1:29.6) in the 400-meter dash, White was 20th (31.13) Rayleigh Moore was 27th (33.07) and Gracie Bruce was 28th (33.27) in the 200-meter dash, Gracie Bruce was 21st (15.16 seconds), Mylee Bruce was 22nd (15.16) and Sophie O’Connor was 24th (15.36) in the 100-meter dash.
As for the Lady Pirates’ relay teams, Kylie “K.J.” McEver, O’Connor, Mylee Bruce and Douglass were fifth in the 400-meter relay (1:00.74).
At the Hilldale Invitational, the Pirates were fourth with 50 points.
For the second time in a week, Gore hurdling trio had another 1-2-3 finish for the Pirates as Weston Cunningham won the 110-meter hurdles (16.28 seconds), with Devon Mannon as runner-up (16.8) and Trenton Cunningham coming in third (16.84). In the 300-meter hurdles, Mannon took gold with a winning time of 41.05, followed by Weston Cunningham in fourth (43.67) and Trenton Cunningham in fifth (45.12).
Comer took first place in the discus (1522).
Mannon was 11th (23.57 seconds), Cole Brooksher was 17th (23.88) and Gabe Hefley was 56th (27.2) in the 200-meter dash, Cain Cooper was 12th (2:22.19) and Luke Wisdom was 15th (2:28.15) in the 800-meter run, Mannon was 16th (11.47 seconds), Nick Eklund was 23rd (11.74) and Brooksher was 44th (12.37) in the 100-meter dash and Clayton White was 35th (1:02.58), Grant Davis was 38th (1:03.48) and Hefley was 40th (1:04.17) in the 400-meter dash.
For the Lady Pirates, Rayleigh Moore was 14th in the 800-meter run (3:03.31) and Amelia White was 14th in the 400-meter dash (1:12.16) to be Gore’s highest placers. White was 21st (29.96 seconds) and Moore was 49th (33.55) in the 200-meter dash.
The Gore teams will be at the Coweta Invitational that will start at 10 a.m. Friday before running in the Vinita Invitational at 10 a.m. next Tuesday.
