Gore Lady Pirates finish third in conference tournament, playoffs begin today at Tushka

The Gore Lady Pirates finished third in the rain-interrupted 2026 Riverside Conference Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament after they lost 5-1 to the Keota Lady Lions in the loser’s-bracket final on April 14.

The week started with a pair of home wins on April 13 as the Lady Pirates ended the night with a 9-1 six-inning victory over Vian after starting off with a 4-3 win over Keota.

Last Thursday, the Lady Pirates suffered a pair of road losses against the Wister Lady Wildcats as the Lady ’Cats took the opener 10-0 in four innings before falling in the nightcap 8-3.

Last Friday’s road game at Central was rained out.

In the tournament loser’s-bracket final loss to Keota, after the Lady Pirates (10-11) took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, the Lady Lions scored five runs in the fourth inning to get the come-from-behind win.

In defeat, Alevia Reasnor was 2-for-3 with a triple, while Sophie O’Connor and Jemma Peevy each singled for Gore. Camdyn Dotson (9-6) suffered the loss.

In the win over Vian, the Lady Pirates scored once in the second inning, four runs in the fourth inning and arun in the fifth for a 6-0 lead. After the Lady Wolverines scored once in the sixth inning, the Lady Pirates put the game into run-rule status with a three-run sixth inning.

For the contest, Maddison Douglass was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in, Mylie “K.J.” McEver was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a runs cored, O’Connor was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Kennedy Williams was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, Keira Rowe was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, Dotson was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Reasnor doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Gore. Dotson got the win as she tossed a four-hitter.

In the first loss to Wister, Wister pitcher Remi Rodeck three-hit the Lady Pirates.

All the run support Rodeck needed came in a seven-run first inning for Wister. A two-run second inning and a run in the fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Williams was 2-for-2 with a double, while Reasnor singled for Gore’s three hits. Dotson took the loss.

In the second loss to Wister, the Lady Wildcats rallied from a 3-1 third-inning deficit tiwh a single run in the third inning, two runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the sixth inning.

In defeat, Reasnor and Emily Daily each were 2-for-4 with a run scored for Gore. Dotson suffered the loss.

After entertaining Quinton on Monday, the Lady Pirates will begin the playoffs at the Class 3A District Tournament today in Tushka. The Lady Pirates will play the co-op Clayton/Moyers team at 11 this morning, with the loser meeting the host Lady Tigers at 12:10 p.m. The Gore-Clayton/Moyers winner will then meet Tuskha at 1:20 p.m. If there are only two teams remaining after the 1:20 p.m. game, the team with one loss will meet the team with no losses for the district title at 2:30 p.m. The if-game will be at 3:40 p.m.

If all three teams are at 1-1 on the day after three games, then the 2:30 p.m. game will be Gore vs. Clayton/ Moyers, with the winner playing Tushka at 3:40 p.m. for the district champion.

Only the district champion will advance to next week’s Class 3A Regional Tournament.
