The Webbers Falls Warriors baseball team went 2-2 last week on the diamond.
They opened the week with a 19-3 three-inning, run-rule win at Arkoma on April 13, then defeated Canadian 5-1 in the first of two home games last Thursday at Eual Carter Sports Complex.
However, the week ended on a down note as the Warriors lost Thursday’s other home game 4-0 to Wilburton before falling 11-3 in five innings at Porum.
Since the Warriors, who were slated to end their regular season on Monday at Quinton, and the Keota Lions are going to play each other in Thursday’s Class A, Division II District Tournament beginning Thursday at Eual Carter Sports Complex, the two teams did not play their regularly-scheduled game on April 14.
In the win over Arkoma, the Warriors (119) scored six runs in the first inning and once in the second inning for a 7-0 lead. A 12-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.
For the contest, Rocky Greenfield was 3-for-3 with five runs batted in and two runs scored, Brutus Robinson was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Clayton Roberts was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs for Webbers Falls.
Trysten Wilbourn (2-4) got his second win of the season, going all three innings with a strikeout as he threw a four-hitter.
In the victory over Canadian, the Warriors scored single runs in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead before the Cougars cut their deficit to 3-1 in the fourth inning. The Warriors put away the game with a three-run fourth inning.
For the contest, Robinson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Austin Barger doubled and Caden Carter singled and scored once for Webbers Falls.
Gunner Shelby (5-2) got the win, going all five innings with five strikeouts.
In the loss to Wilburton, the Diggers scored single runs in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead, then doubled their advantage thanks to a two-run fifth inning.
In defeat, Greenfield doubled, while Robinson and Roberts each singled for Webbers Falls’ three hits.
Shelby took the loss, going the first four innings with two strikeouts. Hayden Stephens pitched the fifth inning.
In the loss to Porum, the Panthers broke a 3-all tie with a threerun third inning, a four-run fourth inning and a run in the fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Robinson was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Shelby singled with two RBIs and Carter singled for Webbers Falls.
Robinson (5-1) took the loss, despite fanning 12 batters in 4.1 innings.
The Warriors and the Lions will play a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Thursday to begin the Class A, Division II District Tournament, with the team that wins the best-of-3 series advancing to next week’s regional tournament. If a winner-take-all game is needed, it will be played on Friday.
