The win ended a week which began with a 1310 home loss to the Vian Wolverines on April 13 before falling 6-4 in eight innings to Panama at home on April 14.

Last Thursday’s scheduled game with Calera did not take place.

After the Pirates (12-9) scored twice in the third inning to cut their deficit to 6-5 after three innings, the Wolverines used a sixrun fourth inning for a 12-5 lead.

In defeat, Eli Munson was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Tate Brooksher was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, James Brasuell was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI and Kyler McGee doubled with an RBI for Gore.

Jesse Reeves (1-2) suffered the loss in relief, going the final 3.1 innings with five strikeouts. Brooksher got the start and went the first three innings with four Ks. Brasuell got the next two outs.

In the loss to Panama, the Razorbacks, ranked ninth in Class 2A, Division I, rallied from a 4-2 first-inning deficit with a two-run third inning to tie the game, then completing the comeback with a two-run eighth inning.

In defeat, Cruz Ward was 3-for-3, Munson was 2-for-5 with a double, Kason Short was 2-for-2 with a run batted in and Brooksher doubled and scored once for the Pirates.

Gage Dame (2-2) took the loss in relief, pitching the eighth inning and giving up two runs but striking out a batter. Brasuell got the start and went the first seven innings with seven Ks.
