Band of Gold competes at Heartland Music Fest

The Vian Band of Gold competed at the Heartland Music Fest on April 18. The band received “Superior” ratings across the board, which is the best you can receive at a concert competition.

The band had two individuals receive Outstanding Performance Awards: Gabe Wilson and Isaac Valentine.

They also had two sections receive Outstanding Section Performances: Clarinets, Amanda White, Carissa Halverson and Brooklyn Herod and Percussion, Lucy James, Cherokee Lyon, Havanna Silos, Nahla Smith, Jenweh Dikar and Holly Holmes.

At the final awards assembly, the band received best high school band overall from the day’s events, with the Clarinet section receiving best section of all the high school bands’ sections that performed.
