The Gore Pirates suffered two road losses last week, falling 5-1 at Oktaha on April 20 and losing 10-2 in five innings at Preston last Thursday.
Friday’s home game against Porum for the 2026 Riverside Conference Tournament title game, which was rained out April 10 at Gore, was once again rained out. Gore coach Tyler Lewis said the game will not be rescheduled.
In the loss to Oktaha, the Tigers, ranked sixth in Class 2A, Division I, scored twice in the first inning, once in the second inning and twice in the fifth inning. The Pirates (12-11) scored their lone run in the seventh inning.
In defeat, Eli Munson was 2-for-4 with a run batted in, James Brasuell was 2-for-3 and Tate Brooksher doubled and scored Gore’s lone run.
McKennon McElhaney (0-3) took the loss, going the first 1.1 innings. Jesse Reeves went the rest of the way with four strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
In the loss to Preston, the Pirates rallied from a 2-0 deficit with an eight-run second inning for an 8-2 lead. A two-run fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Brooksher, Brasuell and Keeton Rowe all singled for Gore.
Reeves (1-3) suffered the loss, going the first 1.1. innings. Brooksher got the next three outs, two of which came by strikeout. Brasuell went the next 1.2 innings, then Gage Dame got the final out.
The Pirates, who got a bye in last week’s Class A, Division I District Tournament, will get to begin postseason play on Thursday at the regional tournament in Dewar. They will meet Tulsa Regent Prep at 1:30 p.m., then either face host Dewar or Velma- Alma later in the day. The regional title game is slated for 6:30 p.m. Friday, with the ifgame at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Only the regional champion will advance to next week’s Class A, DivisionI I State Tournament.
