It was a busy week for the Gore High School track teams last week as they competed at the Vinita Invitational on April 21 and the Inola Invitational last Thursday.
At the Vinita Invitational, The Pirates scored 13 points to end up 16th in the team standings.
Weston Cunningham was third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.82 seconds), Zac Comer was third in the discus (1507) and Devon Mannon was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (41.77) to score team points for the Pirates.
As for other Pirates’ individual results, Comer was eighth in the shot put (40-8), Tate Brooksher was eighth (19-6.5) and Cole Brooksher was 25th (17-10) in the long jump, Mannon was 10th (16.97 seconds) and Trenton Cunningham was 12th (17.25) in the 110-meter hurdles, Weston Cunningham was 14th (44.01) and Trenton Cunningham was 17th (45.4) in the 300-meter hurdles, Nick Eklund was 23rd (11.8), Cole Brooksher was 50th (12.31) and Tate Brooksher was 64th (12.51) in the 100-meter dash, Marcus Scott was 31st in the discus (103-2), Cain Cooper was 40th (2:26.15), Luke Wisdom was 56th (2:34.33) and Gabe Hefley was 69th (2:42.2) in the 800-meter run, Brayden Ellis was 42nd inmate the 1,600-meter run (6:24.33), Cole Brooksher was 55th (25.96) and Grant Davis was 90th (28.84) in the 200-meter dash and Davis was 81st in the 400-meter dash (1:05.86) As for the Pirates’ relay teams, Eklund, Tate Brooksher, Cole Brooksher and Mannon were 12th in the 800-meter relay (1:35.69), while Cooper, Wisdom, Hefley and Benson Hunt were 15th in the 3,200-meter relay (10:24.67).
While the Lady Pirates did not score any team points, they still had several athletes who competed in Tuesday’s meet.
Amelia White had the highest finish for the Lady Pirates as she was 19th in the 800-meter dash (2:49.94).
As for other Lady Pirates individually, Mylee Bruce was 23rd in the 300-meter hurdles (58.98 seconds), White was 25th (1:09.95) and Gracie Bruce was 49th (1:16.63) in the 400-meter dash, Mylee Bruce was 27th in the 100-meter hurdles (22.29), Rayleigh Moore was 40th in the 800-meter run (3:00.91), White was 35th (29.97), Moore was 57th (32.01) and Gracie Bruce was 72nd (35.83) in the 200-meter dash and Mylee Bruce was 63rd (15.4) and Gracie Bruce was 64th (15.46) in the 100-meter dash.
In the Inola Invitational, Gore’s hurdling trio placed in both hurdle events as Devon Mannon was second (41.55 seconds), Weston Cunningham was seventh (44.11) and Trenton Cunningham was ninth (44.44), while Weston Cunningham was third (15.85), Mannon was fourth (16.25) and Trenton Cunningham was sixth (16.47) in the 110-meter hurdles.
As for other Pirates individually, Mannon was eighth (23.47 seconds), Nick Eklund was ninth (23.71) and Cole Brooksher was 35th (25.35) in the 200-meter dash, Eklund was ninth (11.54), Cole Brooksher was 33rd (12.03) and Trenton Cunningham was 43rd (12.19) in the 100-meter dash, Cain Cooper was 11th (2:23.2), Gabe Hefley was 23rd (2:30.72) and Luke Wisdom was 24th (2:31.77) in the 800-meter run, Benson Hunt was 19th (5:54.05) and Brayden Ellis was 27th (6:08.26) in the 1,600-meter run, Grant Davis was 35th (1:06.09) in the 400-meter dash and Wisdom was 44th in the long jump (14-4).
In team standings, the Pirates were sixth with 33 points.
The Lady Pirates were eighth with 15 point last Thursday at Inola.
The highest finisher for the Lady Pirates came from Alevia Reasnor, who was second in the discus (108-4) and seventh in the shot put (30-10).
As for other Lady Pirates’ individuals, Amelia White was 12th (1:10.06), Gracie Bruce was 39th (1:22.3) and Jemma Peevy was 44th (1:26.62) in the 400-meter dash, White was 13th (2:53.12), Rayleigh Moore was 21st (2:58.97) and Peevy was 41st (3:34.26) in there 800-meter run, White was 18th (29.28 seconds), Moore was 27th (31.73), Beller was 33rd (32.63) and Sophie O’Connor was 37th (33 seconds flat) in the 200-meter dash, Mylee Bruce was 20th in the 100-meter hurdles (21.01) and 21st in the 300-meter hurdles (1:00.90) and O’Connor was 32nd (14.59), Mylee Bruce was 36th (15.05) and Gracie Bruce was 37th (15.07) in the 100-meter dash.
The Gore squads were slated to run in Monday’s Keys Invitational, then will try to get as many athletes qualified for state as possible at next Saturday’s Class A Regional Meet in Jay.
All top three individuals and relays in each event automatically will qualify for state. Those who finish fourth through seventh are in line to receive atlarge bids to state if their times and distances are among the highest nonautomatic state qualifiers.
